There
was quite a few year’s between the last of the original “Star Trek”
television series and “Star Trek: The Movie,” therefore I have taken
liberties and set this story in the “between time.”
There have been some marked improvements to the ship: safe Warp
“cruising speed” has been bumped up to Warp 8 instead of Warp 6: Warp 9.5
can be achieved, but only for a limited time; there is an Arboretum on the
lower decks and a deck-2 Officer’s Lounge has been added; a palm-sized
“mini-tricorder” has been introduced.
Also, we are dealing with the “Traditional Klingons,” not the
“quasi-human race” seen on the series.
The rest, however – dress, turbolifts, transporter bays, VIP suites
and bridge – is basically the same.
